Newly Planted Ginko Tree やってきた銀杏の木

​One thing I was very surprised when I moved from Georgia to California was abundance of side walks. Both sides of the residential areas also have side walks, and city owned various trees are planted in the small areas in-between the road and the side walks. I enjoy those as I drive and walk through the neighborhood in all seasons.

One day, the city employees came to trim and take care of the trees. So I ran out and asked them to re-plant the wilted trees in front of our house.

Then I learned that even though the trees are owned and managed by the city, the daily care is the responsibility of the house in front of the tree! OK, I did not know that. I felt terrible about killing the tree!

There are a list of choices for newly planted trees, and I chose a ginkgo tree. It was planted last week, and I wanter it a few times a day using the recycled water from veggie and fruit washes.

I can’t wait for the fall with bright yellow leaves.

ジョージアからカリフォルニアへ引っ越してきてびっくりしたのは、歩道が多いこと。街が歩きやすく作られている。住宅地の両側に歩道があって、道路と歩道の間には市が管轄管理している木が植えてあり、季節を感じさせてくれる。

ある時、市の職員さんがこの地域の木の伐採に来られている時に、走り寄り家の前の木が枯れているので、植え替えて欲しいとお願いしたことがありました。

で、これって特に植えたての頃の水やりとかは、その木の前にある家がお世話することになってるんですね。それを知らなくて、木を枯らせてしまったようなんです。

新しく植える木は、市が推薦するこの辺でよく育つ木の中から選ぶことができて、いちょうをお願いしました。

水やりは、野菜や果物を洗った水を使いながら、こまめに。1日に2、3度あげてます。

紅葉する秋が楽しみ。
