Asagao x SOL Cultural Exchange Party！

My dream came true!!✨ Communication exchange between Japanese and English learning students.

ずっとやりたかった夢が叶いました。日本語を学ぶ生徒さんと、英語を学ぶ生徒さんとのライブ交流。

SOL English in Japan is run by my college friend Nana.

I always enjoy watching her students present activities in English on SNS,

I approached her with an idea to collaborate in late February.

大学時代のお友達のナナ先生が主宰する愛媛県のSOL英会話さん。いつも活発な生徒さんの発表をSNSで拝見していたので、ぜひコラボを！！とアプローチしたのが二月の下旬。

Prep and plan in two month, we welcomed the day in mid-May.

8 Students from US and 4 students from Japan enjoyed the time to play games, give quizzes, eat snacks, show & tell…spending time to output what they’ve learned in class.

2ヶ月で準備、計画を進め、迎えた当日。

日本からは4人の、アメリカからは8人の生徒さんたちが、ゲームをしたり、クイズを出したり、発表したり、学んだことを同年代のお友達と一緒にアウトプットする機会を楽しみました。

Real time connection with friends on the other side of the globe.
Experiencing the time difference.
Learning with purpose.
Joy of having courage to be understood.
Joy of having an open heart to understand others.

地球の裏側とリアルで繋がっている！
時差があることをリアルタイムで体験！
ゴールありきの語学の学び！
自分の気持ち、言いたいことを伝える大切さ！
お友達が言おうとしてることを理解しようとする大きな心！
伝わった！何言ってるか分かった！の喜び！

From the emails I received from several parents,　I knew that many of the students were very nervous, and needed to push themselves to attend this party.

緊張の中、勇気を振り絞って参加してくれた生徒さんも
一人や二人ではないことを、当日親御さんから届いたメールで知っていました。

But they faced the fear themselves, and gained confidence. They were proud of themselves.

それぞれ、自分で壁を乗り越えたからこそ、
自信になった。誇りになった。

To see the students grow in just less than two hours was amazing.

My heart was full. Their hearts were full.

そんな生徒さんの成長を2時間で見ることができ
本当に胸がいっぱいです。

Asagao & SOL are already planning the joint events in the future.

I can’t wait for the students to take charge to run the show.

これからもイベント企画していく予定です。
生徒さんたちがどんどん中心になって進めてくれるようになると嬉しいな。
