Takeout Order Practice in Japanese お持ち帰りオーダーの練習

The participants of the lesson this day was my daughter who speaks both English and Japanese, and two siblings who go to Japanese school (for non-Japanese speakers).

With Shelter-in-Place in California, we can’t sit down at the table and order food any time. So let’s practice calling a restaurant to place an order! The lesson was to order a take out from a Japanese restaurant! 

We practiced saying our names, phone numbers, as well as ordering an item and multiple bentos. We simulated phone calls to practice. 

That night, my daughter called the Japanese restaurant by herself and ordered takeouts!!

I really hope she builds her confidence in speaking Japanese one step at a time.

この日の中学生セッションは、日本語と英語のバイリンガル（娘）と日本人以外の子供達が通う日本語学校に通っている生徒さん達の3人だったので、日本食レストランへ電話でテイクアウトのオーダーをする練習をしました。

レストランで実際に座ってテーブルでオーダーするのは、外出規制がでたカリフォルニアでは当分できない。レストランはデリバリーかお持ち帰りのみの営業なので、頑張ってお電話してみましょう。

名前を言ったり、電話番号を言ったり、お持ち帰りメニューから複数のメニューをオーダーしてみたり。みんなでシュミレーションをしながら練習。

その夜、娘は一人で日本食レストランに電話でオーダーできましたよ！こうして自信を少しずつつけていってくれたら嬉しいな。
