Those are the things I love and enjoy.
Sudoku, reading aloud and reciting is one of the long interest of mine for nearly 15 years.
Last summer though Learn Japan located Wales, I’ve come to know Matsuda Sensei of Kokugo Works in Hiroshima, Japan.
He is the teacher of Sodoku, and I’ve been attending adult and kids classes, a few times a month.
His lectures are so interesting and insightful, my soul travel through times and space in poetry and historical literature.
What I didn’t learn in Japan because it was very much neglected in the education system was what it is to be a Japanese. I am re-discovering my roots in his classes and those cultural roots I’d like to pass on.
He is offering a new Sodoku series which will create and certify instructors around world who are able to offer Sodoku as a part of the learning in their own classes. I’ve registered instantly.
As I read through the description of this new series and what it covers, I couldn’t help but to cry for joy. It was 1 am.
Yes, these are the classes I’ve always wanted to offer in Japanese and in English. I’ve tried it in the past, but didn’t work out either due to no interest or my inability to effectively present the information.
So I was resorting to incorporating the Sodoku element in my language and calligraphy classes instead of offering stand alone Sodoku classes.
When I was in college, only major I can think of pursuing was Literature. My pick without hesitation was poetry.
20 years passed since then, the blurry lesson ideas I had in mind for a long time is now crystal clear. Things started to get connected and fall into place. I can now visualize.
It can be possible. Sodoku in English and in Japanese.
The message I want to pass on.

The day of the new series starts is on 7/25, which is the 30th memorial of my mother.
Go jump right in.
As if she is encouraging me to take this path to make my dream come true.
He offers kids, adult and soon youth classes (all in Japanese).
I can’t wait to implement his method of Sodoku to offer more in depth cultural and language classes under Asagao Japanese.

ただただ楽しくて、とにかく好き！が突っ走って
ここ１5年ほどずっと気になって実践していた素読。
昨年の夏、イギリスのLearn Japanさんのご縁から
広島発 国語ワークス 松田先生主宰の素読講座に出会い、
飛びついた私は、毎月かなりの頻度で参加させていただいています。
（子ども講座にも前のめりで出没）。
毎回ハンカチ片手に魂が揺さぶられるような深い感動と共に
自分が日本で学んでこなかった「日本人である」という意味を
古典や歴史から紐解く授業。
これからの子供達にも伝えたい力強いメッセージ。
この度新講座が始まるということで早速その日のうちに
お申し込みさせていただきました。
講座の主旨を読み進めていくとそれだけで感極まり
嬉しくて泣いていた、私。午前1時。
そう、私はずっとこんな授業がしたかった。
日本語でも英語でも。
今まで何度かやってみるも、需要がなかったり、
うまく行かなかったり。だから普段の授業の中で細々取り入れたりしていた。
大学時代はこれしか考えられない、という気持ちで文学部へ。
そして迷わず詩を専攻。
あれから２０年近く過ぎ、ずっとイメージしていた授業の可能性が
ぱぁーーーーっと目の前で繋がって広がった。
できるかもしれない。
日本語で素読。
英語で素読。
私が伝えたいこと。
Asagao Japanese 柔・重・十のコンセプト。
奇しくも新講座の7/25は母の30回目の命日。
